On 6 November, at the sixth World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris, Cao Shudong, Executive Vice President of the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA), signed the Joint Declaration in support of the development of nuclear energy to help achieve climate goals, at the invitation of the French Nuclear Industry Association (GIFEN).

The declaration, initiated by GIFEN, reaffirms the essential role of nuclear energy in tackling climate change and calls on national leaders to renew their commitment to the technology and to the goal of tripling global nuclear capacity by 2050. It also calls on financial stakeholders to expand market-based support for the nuclear sector, covering the full value chain, and to mobilize green financing for new projects and enhanced research and development (R&D).

Seventeen industry associations, including the World Nuclear Association, the UK Nuclear Industry Association, the FinNuclear Association, the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum, and the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum, have also signed the declaration.
