On 17 November, Ambassador Li Song, China’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, actively promoted the four initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. He did so during a meeting of the IAEA Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee. He pledged China’s support for the Agency in advancing its Technical Cooperation Programme for developing countries. “China will continue to champion ‘Atoms for the Global South’,” Li said.

He emphasized China’s remarkable achievements in nuclear science and technology, which provides a solid basis for increased cooperation with the IAEA and other member states.
