INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

On 28 September, China National Nuclear Power (CNNP) announced that its subsidiary, Qinshan Nuclear Power Company, had collaborated with local environmental authorities to facilitate the signing of a Certified Emission Reduction (CER) agreement between Zhejiang Zero-Carbon Heating Co., Ltd. and a company based in Haiyan. Under the agreement, Zero-Carbon Heating transferred 104 tonnes of CO₂ CERs to the Haiyan-based company to offset environmental damage.

This transaction represents the first effort by Qinshan Nuclear Power and the local government to utilize Carbon Inclusive CERs as a means of ecological and environmental compensation. It is also the first Carbon Inclusive CER transaction in China’s nuclear-powered heating sector. It sets a benchmark for monetizing emission reductions in nuclear heating and is expected to have a lasting impact on the development of the carbon inclusive market and the advancement of the nuclear heating industry.
