On 5 August, China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC) announced that its radiation-source subsidiary, Gaotong Isotope Co., Ltd., had secured a Radiation Safety Permit for its R&D and production campus in Sichuan. The licence, issued to Gaotong’s subsidiary Tongyuan Technology Co., Ltd., formally authorizes the site to manufacture, sell and service sealed radioactive sources.
The 87.9-mu site will house 13 automated production lines for high-demand nuclides such as carbon-14 and krypton-85. Once completed, the facility will produce over 100,000 sealed sources per year, anchoring Gaotong's ambition to establish “Asia’s largest, world-class innovation hub” for radioisotope products.
By consolidating China’s primary R&D and production resources, the facility will supply over 70 types of sealed sources at home and abroad and will offer services including source recycling and irradiation, supporting the use of radiation technology in industry, agriculture, medicine, defence and aerospace.
