
On 3 and 22 August, Dong Baotong, Administrator of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA), visited SPIC Nuclear Energy and China National Nuclear Power (CNNP) for a working inspection.
After receiving briefings on SPIC Nuclear Energy’s operations, reform implementation, and safety management, Dong emphasized the need to clearly define the company’s role within the State Power Investment Corporation’s (SPIC) nuclear safety accountability system. He called for effective coordination with the group’s nuclear safety regulatory body, as well as the establishment of a checklist-based mechanism to clarify accountability, streamline collaboration, and continuously improve the standardization of the nuclear safety accountability system in line with its defined mission and practical operations.
During his visit to CNNP, Dong received updates on the company’s overall operations, its compliance with nuclear safety regulations, and its progress in production safety. He emphasized the critical importance of nuclear safety for economic and social development, as well as for ecological sustainability. He stressed that nuclear safety must remain the top priority and that efforts to strengthen nuclear safety defense line must be intensified.
