
On 22 July, at a meeting on advanced nuclear energy development in Fuzhou, Fujian, the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced that the preliminary design of the CFR1000 — China’s first 1000 MWe fourth-generation commercial fast reactor — had been finalized and was ready to be submitted for approval.
During the event:
• The CNNC (Fujian) Advanced Nuclear Energy Research Institute Co., Ltd. was officially launched;
• The ‘Academician Li Yiyi Workstation’ at CNNC Xiapu Nuclear Power Co., Ltd was inaugurated jointly by the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Fujian Association for Science and Technology;
- China National Nuclear Power and the Fujian Provincial Financial Investment Co. Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement;
- Xiapu Nuclear Power entered into partnership agreements with Xiamen University, the CAS Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, and Qingtuo Group;and
• The Chinese Nuclear Society approved the establishment of its Fast Reactor Branch.
