
On 4 June, the opening ceremony of the World Nuclear University (WNU) Summer Institute took place in Shanghai. Long Maoxiong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA), was invited to attend the event and deliver a speech. This marks the first time the WNU has held a one-month formal programme in China.
Nearly 100 young nuclear professionals from over 30 countries gathered to discuss the future development of nuclear energy in this era of opportunities and challenges. The ceremony was also attended by Sama Bilbao y León, Director General of the World Nuclear Association; Zhang Jing, Director of the Department of Technical Cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (via video); and Huang Mingang, Chief Economist of China National Nuclear Corporation.
