
From 22 to 27 June 2024, the Second ‘Nuclear Energy Cooperation Journey’— China Mission for Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna was successfully held. The event was co-organized by the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) and the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna.
Ambassadors and representatives from the Permanent Missions of eight countries in Vienna – Brazil, Bangladesh, Ghana, Indonesia, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Venezuela – participated in the mission.
During the mission, the delegation toured multiple nuclear technology facilities and R&D centers, including:
﹣ Huaneng’s Shidao Bay High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor Nuclear Power Demonstration Project in Shandong;
﹣ the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC)’s Shandong Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd.;
﹣ the State Nuclear Security Technology Center;
﹣ China Institute of Atomic Energy;
﹣ Nuclear Radiation Breeding Base at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences;
﹣ Nuctech's equipment manufacturing facility in Miyun District, Beijing; and
﹣ China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNPE)
The ambassadors and representatives engaged in discussions with Chinese government agencies, experts, and scholars. They also attended a roundtable entitled “Atoms for a Better Home: Roundtable on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology”, hosted by the CAEA, to promote international cooperation.
