On 16 May, China made a significant breakthrough in the application of nuclear technology when the first shipment of carbon-14 isotopes produced by a commercial nuclear reactor was dispatched to customers from the Qinshan Nuclear Power Base.

These isotopes are the first mass-produced products under the “Hefu-1” isotope production technology. Their release signifies the completion of China’s full carbon-14 isotope supply chain, covering independent research, production, and market supply. This development highlights China’s capabilities in domestication, large-scale production, and branding, marking a new chapter in the Chinese isotope industry.
