CNEA Activities

From 27 to 29 April, the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) held the 2025 Spring International Forum on Sustainable Nuclear Energy Development and the 16th China International Nuclear Power Industry Exhibition in Beijing. The main forum and sub-forums, which focused on innovative development and digital and intelligent transformation, featured speeches and experiences shared by nearly 60 domestic and foreign government officials, senior experts and scholars, and business executives.

Yang Changli, Chairman of both the Fourth CNEA Council and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), addressed the opening ceremony. Keynote speeches were delivered by Dong Baotong (Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Administrator of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA)), Liu Jing (Vice Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA)), He Yang (Vice Administrator of the National Energy Administration (NEA)), Rafael Mariano Grossi (Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)), and William D. Magwood (Director-General of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency).

Cao Shudong (Vice Chairman of the CNEA) and Guo Limin (Secretary General of the CNEA) moderated the main forum. Wang Yiren, chief expert of the China Nuclear Energy Development Report and former CAEA vice chairman, released the Blue Book entitled China Nuclear Energy Development Report (2025) , explaining the key issues of nuclear energy development to representatives from all sectors of society. Representatives from the four leading domestic nuclear power companies attended the forum to present their latest nuclear energy developments and initiative. Senior experts from China and overseas gave presentations and took part in discussions on topics including the transition to low-carbon energy.

The 16th China International Nuclear Power Industry Exhibition, held concurrently, marked the 30th anniversary of its inception in 1995. This year, the area dedicated to domestic exhibitors increased by 37%, while the area dedicated to overseas exhibitors grew by 29.4%. There was also a 50% increase in the number of concurrent activities.

The forum and exhibition attracted significant attention from the domestic and international community and media. Over 40 leading domestic experts and 16 distinguished international guests from government departments, international organizations, and domestic and foreign industries and research institutes presented the latest developments in the nuclear power industry. These included technical innovation, digital transformation, supply chain development, international exchange and cooperation, and policy and mechanism innovation. The event was covered by over 40 journalists from 34 media outlets. Almost 700 people attended the main forum, while over 20,000 visitors attended the exhibition.
