On 19 February, the Administrative Committee of Zhangzhou Gulei Port Economic Development Zone and CNNC-Guodian Zhangzhou Energy Company signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to jointly accelerate the green and low-carbon transition in the Dongshan Bay area. The cooperation aims to promote the comprehensive use of nuclear energy and advance the green development of the petrochemical industry.
Utilizing the clean energy from the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, the two parties will fully explore the potential of nuclear steam supply and its multiple applications. They will develop an integrated industrial steam supply and multi-energy coupling system to support the green transition of the Gulei petrochemical industry. The cooperation will also include public communication, safety culture and training activities to improve industrial safety management in Zhangzhou City.
The signing of the agreement marks the beginning of a partnership between two hundred-billion-dollar industrial clusters to create the first ‘nuclear + petrochemical’ national industrial zone in Fujian Province. This cooperation is not only a cross-field synergy, but also an innovative initiative to jointly pursue China’s “dual carbon” goals.
