At 00:17 on 1 January 2025, Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, operated by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), officially commenced commercial operation. The unit successfully completed a 168-hour continuous full-power test run, marking an important milestone in the large-scale construction of the Hualong One units and heralding a strong start to the New Year for the first large-scale construction base.

The Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Base is designed to accommodate six 1000MWe Hualong One units. Construction of four units has already begun, with strict controls in place to ensure safety and quality.
