On 19 December 2024, the China Institute of Atomic Energy announced that its Institute of Nuclear Technology has successfully developed a fast-response pulsed radiation dosimeter designed to monitor short pulses and high dose rates. This innovation fills a gap in domestic instruments for dynamic pulsed radiation dosimetry research. The dosimeter achieves a response rate of more than 80% to pulsed X-ray doses in the millisecond range, offering a wide range of applications in fields such as radiographic inspection, medical diagnosis, security inspection, and scientific research. This advancement will provide enhanced support for national radiation safety.

Compared to steady-state radiation fields, the fast response pulsed radiation dosimeter prototype is characterized by its short duration and high instantaneous dose rate. It is widely applicable in areas such as security inspection, industry radiography and medical imaging for diagnosis.
