On 23 December 2024, the formula for vitrification of high-level liquid waste using a ceramic electric furnace, jointly developed by China Nuclear Power Engineering and Wuhan University of Technology, was successfully tested and accepted at China's first cold bench for vitrification of high-level liquid waste in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province.
This achievement represents a significant breakthrough in overcoming a global challenge related to the formula for vitrification of high-level liquid waste from nuclear power reactors using ceramic electric furnaces. It fills a gap in this field in China.
The effective treatment of high-level radioactive waste is a critical component in ensuring the safe use of nuclear energy and its sustainable development.
