On 8 November 2024, the Supplier Evaluation Committee (SEC) of the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) held its annual meeting in conjunction with the Nuclear Power Supplier Management Meeting in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. The event was chaired by Cao Shudong, Executive Vice President of CNEA and Chairman of the SEC.
Noting that the nuclear power sector in China is currently at a crucial stage of development, Cao stressed the importance of fully implementing the provisions of the “Notice on the Issuance of Guidance on Regulating the Procurement Management of State-owned Enterprises” issued by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). He stressed the need to improve supplier management in the nuclear power industry in order to promote the high-quality development of China's nuclear power sector.
Cao called on the SEC’s executive body and review organizations to identify their roles and pursue different development paths amidst the evolving industry landscape, so as to jointly drive the industry’s progress. He also urged the development of a work plan for the coming year and subsequent phases, aiming to ensure the comprehensive achievement of the SEC’s key objectives.
