A major milestone was reached on 28 November at 7:46 am when Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant successfully connected to the grid for the first time. This event marks an important step forward in the mass construction of the Hualong One reactor by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).

The Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, known as the starting point for the mass construction of Hualong One and currently the largest Hualong One nuclear power base in the world, is planned to consist of six 1000 MWe Hualong One nuclear units. With four Hualong One units already under construction, all are reported to be in a good state of safety and quality control.
