On 25 October, the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) has made four key proposals to enhance cooperation with the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) at a recent meeting in Beijing.
Cao Shudong, Executive Vice President of CNEA, and Zhang Tingke, Chairman of CNEA’s Expert Committee, met with Baek-sik Noh, Executive Vice Chairman of KAIF, and his 11-member delegation. Discussions focused on the current status of nuclear energy development, the establishment of the East-Asian Nuclear Forum (EANF) and future cooperation between the two associations.
Zhang Tingke gave an overview of China’s nuclear energy development and outlined four proposals for cooperation:
1) As partners of the EANF, both associations should actively expand the Forum’s networks by attracting more civil society organizations from neighboring countries and regions to participate, thereby increasing the Forum’s influence and promoting the concept of a community of shared future for the safe development of nuclear energy.
2) The two associations should work together to maintain and develop the EANF website to ensure effective information exchange and shared services.
3) In addition to the annual Forum meeting, thematic in-depth seminars could be organized based on mutual interests and needs.
4) Utilizing the platform of the Forum, both sides should engage in bilateral exchanges and industrial cooperation.
Baek-sik Noh expressed his honour to visit CNEA after the successful 10th East-Asian Nuclear Forum hosted by the Association. Established in 1972, KAIF is dedicated to promoting the development of the nuclear power industry in South Korea and advising the government on related matters.
Both sides expressed hope for increased exchanges and cooperation in areas such as nuclear power plant operation and maintenance and equipment manufacturing. Baek-sik Noh also extended an invitation to CNEA representatives to attend the 11th East-Asian Nuclear Forum to be held in South Korea next year, further strengthening the partnership between the two associations.
