On 22 October, the 10th East-Asian Nuclear Forum (EANF) was successfully held in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, bringing together key nuclear stakeholders from across East Asia. The Forum was hosted by the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) in cooperation with the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF), the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) and the Taiwan Nuclear Grade Industry Association (TNA).
Speeches were made at the opening ceremony by distinguished representatives of each organization. Cao Shudong, Executive Vice President of CNEA, Masui Hideki, President of JAIF, Baek-sik Noh, Executive Vice Chairman of KAIF, and Li Min, Executive Supervisor of TNA, addressed the Forum on behalf of their respective organizations.
The Forum was attended by some 90 delegates from nearly 40 organizations from across the Taiwan Strait, Japan and South Korea. Under the theme “Facing the Future, Building a Safety Community for Nuclear Energy Development”, the event featured a keynote speech and two special reports focusing on radioactive waste management and public communication, technological innovation and engineering practice.
Mr. Zhang Tingke, Chairman of the Expert Committee of CNEA, presented a keynote report on behalf of CNEA, providing a comprehensive overview of the current status of nuclear energy development in the Chinese mainland. His report explored the potential for future growth, the challenges ahead, and provided insights into the likely trajectory of China’s nuclear energy.
