On 12 October, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MOE) granted an operating licence to Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). The licence was officially handed over to Zhangzhou Energy at a ceremony attended by Dong Baotong, Vice Minister of MOE and Administrator of the National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA).

At 15:18 on the same day, the first batch of nuclear fuel was loaded into Unit 1 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, marking the start of the nuclear commissioning phase for the main system. This milestone paves the way for the unit’s upcoming criticality tests and subsequent grid-connected power generation, providing a solid foundation for the plant’s future operations.
