INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

On 16 September, during the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) presented a bronze statue of China’s distinguished nuclear scientist, Dr. Qian Sanqiang, to the IAEA. This is the first time that the Chinese government has donated a bronze statue of a scientist for permanent display at the IAEA.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s membership of the IAEA. The statue of Dr. Qian Sanqiang is intended to underscore China’s commitment to the IAEA’s mission of “Atoms for Peace and Development” and to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Chinese scientists to the advancement of nuclear energy worldwide.
