Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a message of congratulations to the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on 16 September. On behalf of the Chinese government, Li Qiang extended his congratulations on the convening of the General Conference.
Premier Li stressed the importance of nuclear energy as a clean energy source and noted President Xi Jinping’s call for a global nuclear security architecture based on fairness and win-win cooperation.
Since joining the IAEA 40 years ago, China has consistently supported the Agency's work through concrete actions. Premier Li noted that China and the IAEA have had extensive cooperation in areas such as the development and use of nuclear energy, nuclear safety, security, safeguards and non-proliferation, which has yielded fruitful results and made significant contributions to global nuclear energy governance and development.
Premier Li expressed China’s willingness to further enhance cooperation with the IAEA and other Member States to make global nuclear energy governance more just and rational, nuclear energy development more inclusive and nuclear energy cooperation more open and orderly.
