In 2024, CGN’s Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant proudly celebrates three decades of commercial operation. To mark this milestone, the 30th Anniversary Experience Summary Conference was held at the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant on 18 July 2024. Nestled on the picturesque shores of the South China Sea in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant is a symbol of China’s transformative era of reform and opening-up, having first connected to the grid in 1994.
Building on its success, Phase I and Phase II of the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant were also built, adding to the capacity of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Base. Today, the base boasts a formidable array of six reactors in three nuclear power plants, with a combined installed capacity of 6120 MWe, making it one of the largest PWR nuclear power complexes in the world.
With nearly 1 trillion kWh of electricity supplied to the grid since 1994, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Base has cemented its role as a vital energy pillar for the burgeoning Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, driving the region’s prosperity and sustainable development.
