On July 14, local time, the construction of Unit 5 (C-5) of Pakistan's Chashma Nuclear Power Plant broke ground. This is the third unit of China's independent third-generation nuclear power Hualong No. 1 exported to Pakistan, and also the seventh nuclear power unit exported by China to Pakistan, which is another important milestone in nuclear energy cooperation between China and Pakistan. It is another important milestone in the nuclear energy cooperation between China and Pakistan. China and Pakistan have jointly built four 300 MW nuclear power units C-1 to C-4 at the Chashma Nuclear Power Base and two 1000 MW nuclear power units K-2/K-3 at the Karachi Nuclear Power Base. These units can provide nearly 30 billion kWh of clean electricity for the local area every year, which is equivalent to reducing the consumption of standard coal by 9.38 million tons and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 24.48 million tons, which is equivalent to planting 210 million trees. It has made an important contribution to Pakistan's energy supply and economic and social development. At present, the 6 nuclear power units built by China National Nuclear Corporation are operating safely and stably, playing an important role in ensuring Pakistan's power supply. (Source: CNNC)
