The year of 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina. On February 1, on the first day of the traditional Chinese New Year, A good news for China's independent third-generation nuclear power technology Hualong No. 1 was announced : the Argentina Atucha Nuclear Power Plant No. 3 unit EPC contract was officially signed between the Argentine Nuclear Power Corporation and the China National Nuclear Corporation, China Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation, China Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation Argentina Branch. This is an important milestone in the nuclear energy cooperation between China and Argentina, and it is also a concrete measure for the two countries to pursuit to green and low-carbon development, address climate change, help achieve the global goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", and to jointly build a nuclear energy community with a shared future for mankind.

The nuclear power project cooperation is an important part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Argentina. As early as 1985, the governments of China and Argentina had signed the Agreement on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy. On behalf of the China National Nuclear Corporation, China Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation took the lead in deeply cultivating the Argentine nuclear market and promoting project development. The nuclear scientists and workers in China and Argentina have worked together to bring about the EPC contract into conclusion. According to the contract agreement, CNNC will build a PWR nuclear power plant with Hualong No. 1 technology for Argentina in "turnkey" delivery .

"Hualong No. 1 is not only a major achievement in China's nuclear power development, but also the preferred option for the third generation of nuclear power that China has provided to Argentina and the world." At the signing ceremony, Yu Jianfeng, Chairman of CNNC, said that CNNC will leverage the advantages of its entire nuclear industry chain, work closely with Argentina to safely and efficiently advance the construction of the Atucha No. 3 nuclear power plant project to forge a benchmark project for nuclear energy cooperation between China and Argentina, and continuously expand new opportunities for cooperation. The EPC contact cooperation will inject strong momentum into the consolidation and deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Argentina, assist Argentina's economic and social development, and benefit the Argentine people.
