TSNP phase I is the largest-ever cooperative project in China between China and France in the energy field. Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. (TNPJVC), jointly invested and established by CGN, EDF and Guangdong Energy Group, is mainly in charge of financing, construction, operation and management of TSNP Phase I. It adopts the third generation nuclear power technology, consists of two EPR units with the installed capacity of 1750 MW each. EPR is jointly developed by EDF and Framatome. On the basis of more than 40 years global experience and technical progress on pressurized water reactor (PWR), the technology meets not only the European Utility Requirement, IAEA requirement but also Chinese regulations on nuclear safety as well.
