Nuclear Security Demonstration Center jointly set up by China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) and the U.S. Department of Energy was put into operation in Fangshan District, Beijing on March 18.

The nuclear security exchange and training center which is the largest of its kind in Asian-Pacific region and even the world as a whole in terms of equipment and state-of-the-art technology is the largest cooperation project in the nuclear field directly invested and built by both governments. During the first Nuclear Security Summit in 2010, the national leaders of China and US reached a consensus on jointly building Nuclear Security Demonstration Center in China. As per the consensus, China provides the site and facilities and is responsible for the management and operation of the Center, while the United States furnishes professional equipment in terms of nuclear materials analysis, nuclear safety equipment testing, response force training and exercises, etc.
