INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The closing ceremony of Tsinghua Course was seen in Beijing, China on July 3, 2009, with a record attendance of 242 participants from domestic institutes, mines, utilities, operators and universities receiving their course certificates at the Tsinghua University.
This one-week course in Beijing this year, entitled 'Key Issues in the World Nuclear Industry Today', has been co-hosted by the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) and World Nuclear University (WNU), undertaken by the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology (INNET) under Tsinghua University.
The teachers for these WNU courses, drawn from the experts of USA, UK, Argentina and so on, offered 20 presentations, which range from world energy issues and prospects, through nuclear fuel, economics and financing, non-proliferation, radiological protection and waste management, to the public acceptance of nuclear.
This core team of teachers has been backed by the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
CNEA’s secretary-general, Mr. Ma Honglin delivered the opening remarks and briefed on the China’s nuclear power status in 2008, INNET’s director Zhang Zuoyi offered the closing remarks, Mr. Steve Kidd, WNU’s director of strategy and research awarded the certificates.
