Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of PRC sent a congratulatory letter on April 6 to the 20th Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference (PBNC) held in Beijing.

Premier Li said in his congratulatory letter that nuclear science & technology is one of the greatest technological achievements in the 20th century. The peaceful use of nuclear energy, characterized by nuclear power, has played an irreplaceable role in guaranteeing the energy supply, promoting economic development, tackling climate change, and increasing social welfare.

Premier Li also pointed out that the Chinese government sets great store by the development of nuclear energy, and insists on safe and efficient development of nuclear power. In recent years, China has designed and developed the Gen-Ⅲ nuclear power technology, for example, “HPR1000”, built a number of NPPs, and also established a relatively complete industrial system of nuclear science & technology. China stands ready to carry out cooperation with countries all over the world in the peaceful use of nuclear energy on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

Then Premier Li hoped that the delegates, centering on the theme “nuclear energy powering the development of the pacific basin and the whole world,” conduct in-depth discussion and learn from each other to spur the safe development, industrial cooperation, scientific & technological exchanges, and personnel training in nuclear energy fields, thereby making joint contributions to the globally peaceful use of nuclear energy.
